Online Veterinary Ultrasound Basic Course

RACE approved for 6 CE hours for DVMs.
Course consists of 5 sessions, containing 11 lectures and 11 quizzes for a total duration of about 6 hours.

Course is presented by Brian A. Poteet, MA, DVM, Dipl. ACVR, ABSNM The Basic Ultrasound Course is designed to introduce general veterinary practitioners to cross sectional ultrasound imaging, as used in small animal veterinary medicine.  The course includes both abdominal ultrasound and cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography).  The course is presented via online didactic (PowerPoint lectures). The lectures will cover both normal anatomy and many of the commonly seen pathologic conditions seen in private practice.  Participants will begin by learning the basics of ultrasound science and technology, ultrasonography’s application to diagnostics in veterinary medicine and basic ultrasonography techniques. The remaining lectures will focus on techniques and pattern recognition of individual systems and organs.  At the end of the course, each participant should have specific knowledge of and be fluent with:

    1. Finding every organ in the abdominal cavity (liver, gall bladder, spleen, stomach, pancreas, small bowel, colon, adrenal glands, kidneys, urinary bladder, lymph nodes)
    2. Identifying the normal internal sonographic architecture and anatomy of each organ
    3. Identifying the presence of peritoneal fluid
    4. Be familiar with the sonographic appearance of common pathologic conditions in the abdomen
    5. Identify the heart and all individual chambers in the heart
    6. Identify the region of the heart base
    7. Obtaining the standard short axis and long axis views of the heart
    8. Obtaining standard direct and indirect measurements used in echocardiography (LA:Ao, FS, EPSS, wall thicknesses and luminal diameters).
    9. Anatomic and specific terms used in ultrasound

Online Veterinary Thermal Imaging Course
Course consists of 14 sessions for a total duration of about 11 and a half hours. (see attached for session titles).
The cost of the course is $1,500.00.
Includes unlimited access to the course for one year.
